Rain, rain, go away...

It has been raining here since... well, I honestly can't remember. But for the past few days it has been raining hard.

Which is why the ceiling in the girls' room is soggy.

And why there are muddy old bath towels and doggy footprints all over the place. And why I've given up on keeping my floors clean.

And why the smell of wet dog is rivaling the Harvest tart in the tart burner.

And why two little sniffly girls are slowly going stir crazy. (Little Sister keeps going to the front door, knocking on it, and saying, "walk" or "'side?" or bringing me her shoes. When I let the dogs out & close the door without letting her go out on the back deck, she tries to bite me.)

And also why I have a newly reignited appreciation for PBS kids!

And why our local school district is closed tomorrow for flooding.

And (I fear) why it smells musty each time the air conditioning kicks on downstairs. I am afraid to brave the mud and look in the crawlspace. I also think whatever it is (mold?!) is making us sick- Little Sister woke up with what we call the "green globs" this morning, and I've been listening to her little coughs through the monitor all evening.

But we're fortunate.

We're dry.

We've got everything we need.

We're in our own home.

My thoughts & prayers are with those who had to leave their homes, who are sleeping in shelters or bunking with friends tonight.
